Getting back into it

Jaysus, it’s been a while since I’ve even attempted to write a blog post.

I’ve been reasonably active on my Twitter account, but finding the time, energy or inclination to write a full post has been beyond me. Course, I got my hosting bill from Blacknight the other day, which served to remind me that having my own domain isn’t some divine and free right bestowed on my by virtue of my Irish passport. So I figure if I’m paying, I might as well make a bit of time to rant here.

Lets start off light though. Maybe one post a week.

PS If anyone actually notices or cares, yes, those are Google ads to the right. I have this romantic notion that Google are going to send me a cheque for the price of a new MacBook Pro and the ads are my tiny way of helping that along (I can dream). I know many people don’t believe in the idea of having ads on a personal blog, but I figure since they’re marked as ads, and aren’t too visually appaling, it’s fair game to leave them up. If they help you find something useful, go ahead and click them, it’s not like it’ll cost you. On the other hand, if you don’t like what they’re selling, just don’t click them. Unless you see an ad for Cóir or something, then leave a comment, cause I don’t want that crap on my site.

Whoa, really, it’s been so long since my last post, that I had to start the day with a series of system upgrades. Plus I had to try and remember how to access my admin page. But here I am and it’s all good.

So, I’m going to make a concerted effort to start posting again. A couple of topics I’ll get around to before the end of the week -

Dinner in “Gordon Ramsay at Powerscourt” – The Chef’s Table, Oh. Hell. Yes.
Shamrock Shakes – it’s that time of year again.
RBS Six Nations – No, we won’t win.
iPhone on O2 Ireland – Swallow our shitty prices plans you dumb fucking Paddies.

Ok, they should ease me back in over the next few days..

So, the DB errors were caused by a plugin of mine (Google Sitemaps) that hadn’t updated for compatibility with WP 2.3, so only had to deactivate it. After a bit of trial and error of course

Blogging should now resume to it’s usual levels!

Now, to find a topic……..

Bit of housekeeping. Was in the middle of a long overdue post and started getting a load of Database errors. Until I get it nailed down, I won’t be posting. Let’s say by the 19th of October I’ll be back?

Right, so off to the Picnic tomorrow for 3 days of fun and frolics. If the mood takes me (and the network is ok), then I may upload a few photo-posts.

Otherwise normal service will resume on Monday/Tuesday.

I’m playing around with the look and feel of the site at the moment, so it could look a bit mad every so often.
