You hate Vista, what to do?
August 3rd, 2007 | by Colm |Sorry for the empty few days, started working full-time for Notschool, so had to look busy etc
Anyway, as part of the job, I’ve been forced to do something I’ve been avoiding for a while now. Work with Vista. Ugh.
As a techie, I come across a lot of systems. In my personal inventory, I have 2 Macs, an XP box and an Ubuntu Box. I flick between the three OS with relative ease and each has their own perks and disadvantages.
For day to day stuff, I stick with my MacBook. It’s small, it’s got good battery life and, well, it’s just plain idiot proof. My XP box has mostly been absorbed by my better half for playing Sims 2, but every so often I use it for a Windows fix. The Ubuntu box I use mostly for File Server duty and it serves me well, but not much beyond that.
Now, of course, in the land of business it’s not so simple. Some things just cannot be run on a Mac. So for this, we have a single Vista box in work. And it’s shite, pure drivel. “Are you sure you want to do that?” OF COURSE I’M SURE I CLICKED THE SODDING BUTTON DIDN’T I????
Anyway, since people all over the IT world are facing a similar dilemma, Information Week got two Windows users who have recently converted to other systems and gave their thoughts here. Until you change, you can use this article to ask yourself…..
“Are you sure you would like to do that?”
